In Kilmainham Gaol Museum visitor numbers increased from 50,000 to 150,000 in the first year of opening. Last year 230,000 visitors attended. Within one year of implementation of the first phase of the Master Plan for the National Trust at Mount Stewart, visitor numbers increased by 48% and membership to the National Trust by 158% against the same period of the previous year. The National Museum projected 150,000 per year to the Museum of Country Life at Castlebar – they welcomed their 200,000th visitor after 9 months. Irelands Historic Science Centre in Birr Castle Demesne estimated visitor numbers would reach 50,000 by year four, the reality was 55,000 by year three.
