Kitchen Power
National Museum of Country Life

Opened 19 July 2019, this temporary exhibition tells the story of the impact of electricity on womens lives in1960s rural Ireland.
The design is based on the promise of the better life and objects of desire as often expressed through the advertising and trade shows of that time. The exhibition includes audio memoirs from women around Ireland, artefacts from the National Museum collection, private loans and advertising from the ESB archives. This is a sentimental journey for many who remember the appliances and adverts on display.
